GS08 (DE 480 Version /Release/Industry Identifier Code) applies to the enclosed Transaction Set 997 Functional Acknowledgment. In particular, it does not apply to the transaction set that is being acknowledged, for example TS 837.
The Industry Identifier Code (like X096A1) that is found in any specific implementation guide applies only to the Transaction Set that is the subject of that implementation guide (like 837 Health Care Claim: Institutional). That value does not apply to the 997 as represented in Appendix B of the guides. Therefore, the GS08 value for Functional Groups containing the 997 transaction contains only the version and release value, e.g., 004010.
